Play Time

Here's some scenes from play time this afternoon. Every day I am thankful 1) that we have two wonderful little boys who already seem to adore one another and 2) that we turned a room into a playroom. Not that the rest of the house is neat (or even clean), but at least we don't have to look at the chaos in the evenings.

First day of PreSchool

Eli was so excited....
When I picked him up at 12:30, the teacher said that Eli sung the songs with gusto (translation he yelled the songs off-key and kept singing after the song was over) and climbed the jungle gym with no fear (translation he climbed quickly to the highest point). Eli told me that he played on the playground, came inside and played, was quiet, sang songs, and had turkey, beans and noodles for lunch. Sounds like a good day to me!

Sitting Pretty

Ezra has learned to sit up in the last week or so. He is still pretty unsteady, but he loves to be able to play better and see what his brother is up to more clearly.
In Eli news, we're all looking forward to the start of preschool Monday. Eli is so excited. He poured cereal in his new backpack a few days ago in order to be ready to go. He's also practising getting up early (real early) since we converted his crib to a toddler bed two weeks ago. Apparently when his eyes open his little feet must immediately hit the floor. First thing I'm doing on Monday morning is take a nap! Though we're still working on potty training, Eli is really maturing in other ways. His conversation skills are getting pretty good and we are now entering the "Where" and "Why" phase. I think we have Jed to thank for teaching Eli about the wonders of "Why." Um, thanks for that - I think.

So as the boys grow and change here is a fun little flashback - what is it about this expression?

Eli at about 6.5 months
And Ezra at 5.5 months

Remembering Thomas

It was a sad day yesterday. We lost our dear old cat Thomas who we've had nearly the whole time we've been married. Thomas started life as a stray called Tom by our Winston-Salem neighbor and soon became ours with the slightly more elegant moniker of Thomas. It wasn't long until our friend Sarah gave him the nickname Tommy-T and we called him that a lot.

He was the consummate lap cat, could read us like a book (we had to spell "v-e-t" and be stealthy with the kitty-carrier), he loved to eat (especially ice cream and cereal milk), and was as gentle as could be. We'll miss him.

Here's Thomas (in the midst of his favorite activity) with Chris and Baby Eli.
