We haven't fallen off the earth, yet. It has been a whirlwind of a summer. Ezra is having a very serious case of the 2's making things very, um, dramatic around here. But at the same time, his improving speech makes him a lot of fun too. He's still calling Eli "Allie", but he has plenty of other words down pat (like "construction site"). Speaking of construction, Ezra is a construction fiend. He adores his hammer, carries one everywhere and loses them regularly amid many tears. We bought two when I found toy tools cheap recently.
Eli is turning into such a big boy. He loves doing big kid things (read: stuff Ezra can't do) and his letter/number recognition is improving. We've had the tarp out recently doing a painting project (down to the last 2 rooms in the house - whole other LONG story). Written on it is "top" so we always keep one side clean. Eli wanted to know why we had "stop" written on it! Like Ezra, building is Eli's passion. There's always pieces of lumber laying around here and I keep what anyone but Eli would assume to be a bunch of recyclables handy for him to do his projects with. Budding architect or engineer or mad scientist?? The jury is still out... this morning he was an electrician and was fashioning wires of large plastic straws with pipe cleaners inserts. Perhaps he'll be a job foreman because his favorite sort of project is one where he tells you how to do all the work.
Although we decided not to send Eli to Kindergarten this year, that didn't stop us from going to school (one-room style).
The summer may be waning, but Eli and Ezra still say "Giddy-up"!
